Used for patients who need mild anxiety reduction while remaining awake, responsive, and able to maintain normal breathing on their own (i.e. single dose of Halcion). In Washington, minimal sedation with or without nitrous oxide requires 7 CE hours every 5 years
A deeper level of sedation where patients remain responsive to verbal commands, either alone or with light touch. In Washington, moderate sedation with oral/enteral agents requires 7 CE hours every 3 years, while IV/parenteral moderate sedation requires 14 CE hours every 3 years
Used for patients who require the deepest level of anesthesia care, where airway support and advanced monitoring may be necessary. Washington dentists with a general anesthesia permit are required to complete 18 CE hours every 3 years

Yes. Dentists with minimal sedation or moderate sedation with oral/enteral agents only need Day 1 (7 CE credits)
If you need the full 14 CE credits required to maintain your IV sedation permit, you must complete both Day 1 and Day 2.
